When the pale pink cherry blossoms first emerge throughout Japan, an unmistakable touch of spring is definitely in the air. Springtime heralds rejuvenation, and a fresh, new start, one elegantly symbolized by a single tea bowl of matcha. Matcha embodies the unique essence of the entire leaf in its most refined form. The refreshing vitality of its natural caffeine provides sustained vigor without an aggressive caffeine kick.

Premium matcha – quality to the taste, beauty to the eye

Our organic matcha comes from Honshū, Japan’s main island, where rich soils and an ideal climate provide excellent conditions for producing tea of the highest quality. Only the very finest leaves from the first harvest are selected for the production of organic matcha.
Growers shade the tea leaves for two to three weeks so that they can fully develop their magnificent emerald color and vibrant flavor. Once picked, the leaf stems and veins are painstakingly removed. Only then is the “tencha” very finely ground into a soft powder in slowly rotating granite mills. It takes about an hour to produce some 30 grams, or just roughly the amount for a small tin.

This premium drink is packed with numerous health benefits – a mild but highly aromatic tea with delicate sweetness and a silky-soft finish.

  1. Put the amount of a bamboo spoon or the contents of a matcha stick into a tea bowl
  2. Pour in water heated to 70° – 80° C
  3. Whisk vigorously in a zig-zag pattern until frothy

Matcha is traditionally enjoyed plain. For a matcha latte, simply add a little milk.
