E.S.E. stands for “Easy Serving Espresso” — the Italian standard that makes espresso preparation as easy as possible without compromising on taste. Sirocco is currently the only roastery outside of Italy that is a member of the official E.S.E. consortium and therefore authorized to use the protected E.S.E. logo. This certification guarantees verified quality, complete E.S.E. compatibility, and certified sustainability.

During brewing, the hot water comes into contact only with the coffee and the biodegradable filter paper — ensuring a pure, unadulterated coffee aroma.
Each pad is individually sealed to preserve the authentic coffee aroma from the first pad to the last. The premium packaging in the unmistakable Sirocco design is made from recyclable cardboard. In addition, the varieties Bio‑Espresso and Bio‑Crema are available unwrapped in a convenient resealable bag.
Thanks to the E.S.E. standard, the pads can be used with compatible portafilter machines — completely without the hassle of switching beans. This makes it easy to explore the full flavor range of Sirocco: a strong espresso in the morning, a mild variety in the afternoon, and a decaffeinated coffee in the evening in no time. Each E.S.E. pad contains exactly 7 grams of finely ground coffee in the standardized 44 mm format. This ensures consistent quality and a balanced extraction with delicate crema. Thanks to this standardization, our E.S.E. pads are compatible with all E.S.E. coffee machines or portafilter inserts.
SiroccoCoffee Selection in E.S.E. Pad Format
This noble coffee variety is considered the finer of the two globally cultivated species and includes more than 150 varietals — as diverse as high‑quality grape varieties. What others call “Grand Cru” or “Specialty Coffee” is a matter of course for us. For all our coffee specialties — including our E.S.E. pads — we use exclusively 100% Arabica beans. Their aroma, with notes of chocolate, ripe fruits, cassis, and floral nuances, deserves special care. We deliberately avoid robusta beans because enjoyment and quality always come first for us.
We roast each origin separately and then combine them into well‑balanced blends — except for our “Single Origins”. These single‑origin coffees reveal the fascinating diversity of different growing regions, each expressing their own authentic character. Unlike blends, the individual aromas stand out especially clearly and impressively. Try one of these specialties and discover your personal favorite.
