Matcha – A Beverage of Distinction
Origins of Matcha
Matcha traces its roots back to 7th-century China, where tea leaves were first ground into a fine powder. A Japanese monk brought this knowledge home, where Matcha was refined and elevated to a symbol of culture and spirituality. For centuries, Matcha has been an integral part of the Japanese tea ceremony. Known as the “Way of Tea,” this tradition embodies mutual respect, gratitude, and reverence for nature.
Crafting Our Organic Matcha
Our organic Matcha is sourced from Shizuoka Prefecture on Japan’s main island, Honshū—one of the world’s most historic tea-growing regions. The mild climate, moist sea air, and nutrient-rich volcanic soil create ideal conditions for cultivating premium tea varieties. Combined with expert local craftsmanship, this yields an organic Matcha of exceptional quality—smooth, aromatic, naturally sweet, and with a silky-soft finish.
About three to four weeks before harvest, the tea plants are shaded with nets. This process boosts chlorophyll and amino acid production (especially L-theanine) while reducing bitterness.
Only the finest leaves from the first harvest are handpicked. After carefully removing stems and veins, the dried leaves—known as Tencha—are slowly ground into powder using granite mills. Just 30 grams of Matcha are produced per hour—the exact amount found in our exclusive Sirocco Matcha tin.
Every step in the creation of our premium organic Matcha reflects the values of the Japanese tea ceremony: time-honored knowledge, mindfulness, and artisanal precision.
Guaranteed Purity
All our teas are rigorously tested for any traces of pesticides, heavy metals, or other residues—without exception.
The Benefits of Matcha
Unlike traditional green tea, Matcha is consumed in its entirety—meaning you ingest the whole leaf and all its valuable nutrients. Matcha offers a harmonious and intense flavor experience, rediscovered with every sip.
ENERGY & FOCUS
Matcha contains natural caffeine, but it behaves differently than the caffeine in coffee. Thanks to the amino acid L-theanine found in tea, the caffeine is released more gradually, providing steady, long-lasting energy without the jitters.
CALM & CLARITY
For centuries, Matcha has been appreciated for its balancing effects. It invigorates both body and mind while simultaneously promoting inner calm and mental clarity. A soothing equilibrium—perfect for moments of focus, meditation, or mindful breaks.
RICH IN ANTIOXIDANTS
Matcha is naturally high in antioxidants—powerful plant compounds that help protect cells from oxidative stress. It’s a tea that nourishes both body and mind, supporting daily wellness in a natural way.
VERSATILE & DELICIOUS
Matcha is far more than just tea. Whether as a creamy latte, a refined ingredient in smoothies and desserts, or a special touch at breakfast-Matcha adds a hint of bold elegance and unexpected sophistication to any recipe.
