Tea is a fascinating natural product that occurs in many different qualities and enormous quantities worldwide. The standard qualities available failed to meet our expectations, so we went out in search of first-class tea growers who share our commitment to the highest possible organic quality and uncompromising flavor.

Many of our tea and herb specialties are unflavored. Others we have chosen to enhance with natural aromas and created wonderful products that guarantee pleasure and all-round enjoyment. Of course, tea and herbs from controlled organic plantations may only be enriched with natural oils and aromas.

As with many other organically grown foodstuffs, the demand for organic tea far outweighs the available supply. We therefore carefully plan our purchasing in good time. Despite this, we are occasionally confronted with surprises because every harvest is ultimately influenced by local climatic conditions.

For some types of tea specialties there are simply no producers who are prepared to commit to the increased effort necessary for organic production together with the frequently complicated and bureaucratic certification process. Here, we continue to search and prefer not to settle for compromise solutions.

Our goal is to offer first-class organic teas and organic herbal infusions not only loose in our attractive metal tins, but also to ensure the same enjoyment and the same leaf quality in practical, convenient sachets.

We are now introducing our handcrafted, premium tea sachets made from pure cotton. They stand for the highest level of care and naturalness, are produced without adhesives or metal staples, and are hand-stitched with a natural cotton thread. With this step, we are embracing an even more consistent and sustainable solution made entirely from pure natural fibers, free from synthetic materials and microplastics.

Until now, our organic tea creations have been packaged in biodegradable tea sachets made from cornstarch. These sachets are free from nylon and proven to be free of microplastics. The introduction of the new cotton tea sachets will take place gradually and with careful use of resources over the coming weeks and months. For you, what truly matters remains unchanged: the familiar, high-quality Sirocco tea experience in every cup.

Although the tea sachets are made from pure cotton, we recommend disposing of used sachets with regular household waste. This is because “biodegradable” and “compostable” are not the same. The temperatures required for complete decomposition are not always reached in home composting systems, especially not during the winter months.

As a characteristic of handcrafted products, individual tea sachets may occasionally show slight variations in size. This is exactly what makes them
small works of art – one sachet at a time.

A handcrafted Sirocco cotton tea sachet is designed for 200 to 250 milliliters of water. For all teas and herbal infusions, the desired strength
can best be adjusted not only by the amount of water used, but also by brewing time. Our recommended brewing time is printed on every airtight,
light-protective sachet as well as on the small paper tag attached to each tea sachet.

Many tea drinkers are unaware that only teas made with leaves from a tea bush (namely, white, green, oolong or black tea) contain caffeine naturally. Generally speaking, the caffeine content of a cup of tea is roughly the same as that of a cup of coffee made with Arabica beans. Only White Silver Needle has a slightly higher caffeine content.

All herbal infusions, such as mint, fruit and rooibos blends, are caffeine-free and thus suitable for children or late evening, when you can drink as much as you like without worrying whether or not you will get a good night's sleep.
