Sheng Pu Er Cha (生普洱茶) is the Chinese term for raw Pu-erh tea – a traditional tea variety from Yunnan Province in southern China. “Sheng” means “raw” or “unaged,” “Pu Er” refers to the region of origin, and “Cha” simply means “tea.”

Our Sheng Pu Er comes from the Meng Ku district, where the unique soil conditions nurture a particularly fragrant Pu Er with sweet aromas. As early as the Han Dynasty over 2,000 years ago, Pu Er was considered a specialty, and by the 10th century, the tea – pressed into bricks – was valued for its durability and ease of transport as a trade commodity.

Freshly picked leaves are handled with great care to avoid breakage and unwanted oxidation. In traditional production, the leaves are dried under controlled heat and then pressed into squares. The “raw Pu Er” then matures naturally through fermentation for two to three years – a meticulous process that makes this tea especially precious.

In the cup, Pu Er reveals a fragrant, golden infusion. Its flavor is bold and smooth, with subtle notes of pine forest honey.

A tea for connoisseurs – and for anyone ready to embark on a journey through China’s centuries-old tea culture.

Good to know

To fully enjoy sheng Pu Er, it should be prepared mindfully. Start with a brief rinse: bring water to a boil, pour it over the tea leaves in the teapot, and discard the first infusion after a few seconds. This gently opens the leaves and prepares them for the actual brew. Then pour water heated to about 175–195°F/80–90 °C over the leaves and steep for 2–3 minutes. The result: a crystal-clear, golden cup with a bold yet smooth taste – a tea that invigorates both body and mind.
