Ceylon tea refers to a variety grown in Sri Lanka, which was formerly known as Ceylon. Ceylon teas are rich and relatively unaffected by hard water. They are valued highly for English blends and are usually taken with a little milk.

The three big tea-growing areas in Sri Lanka are Uva, Dimbula and Nuwara Eliya. The best-quality tea comes from the steep slopes at 1200 meters where there is enough air humidity and rain as well as the well-drained soil the plants thrive on.
